“This is already the best group in the school” 

Over the past 12 weeks, the Cashback Team has had the pleasure of delivering creative art sessions at Heathryburn Primary School as part of Avenue’s Cashback programme. The sessions were centred around learning through creativity, and it was brilliant to see the young people engage so openly, building skills and confidence as the weeks went on.

Together, we explored mindful drawing, paper marbling, screen-printing, abstract painting, and badge-making. Each session introduced new techniques and ideas, encouraging pupils to learn through doing, problem-solve creatively, and reflect on their own work. The activities were designed to be relaxed and enjoyable, helping young people feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, and trying again.

Alongside developing creative and practical skills, the sessions supported wider learning such as teamwork, communication, and self-expression. The workshops became a space where pupils could learn from one another, build friendships, and grow in confidence in a safe and supportive environment. Seeing the young people recognise their progress and take pride in what they had learned was a real highlight of the project.
