Craigielea Children’s Centre
“Awesome Sauce”
We provided group sessions and 1:1 sessions with young people who attended Craigielea. We focused on lots of expressive and risk-taking art methods in order to build young people’s confidence and self-esteem. These approaches also allowed young people to develop an alternative way to express themselves and explore their emotions. A highlight of our group session was being able to go to Aberdeen Art Gallery to provide inspiration and further their interest and understanding of visual communication. Another success was with our 1:1 sessions, where a young person felt comfortable and engaged enough to not require the use of vaping to alleviate their anxiety.
Craigielea Children’s Centre is part of Aberdeen City Council social services, it provides intensive support to children and families on the edge of, and entering, care.
