“If she doesn’t like something, then she would drop out very quickly, but she has really stuck with this project.” 

The CashBack Connecting Through Creativity team joined a SensationAll girls’ group for a twelve-week programme. We began simply by looking at lines and how the movement of your hand across a page could be used to start to create a feeling. We then looked at different emotions and linked these to colour pallets, quality of line and artists paintings to go on and produce a stunning range of lino prints which expressed their chosen emotion.  

We also looked at more experimental ways of creating an image and explored several different mark making exercises. Giving the girls a sense of freedom in creating an image and being able to allow themselves to be expressive and responsive to their own mood.

The project ended with a mini exhibition of their works which highlighted the importance of being able to speak though imagery not words and giving a different way to express our feelings.
