“It’s definitely a good idea – Art can help it’s like therapy. There’s a big selection of things”
The Cashback: Connecting through Creativity team joined the pupils of Kaimhill Primary for a second round of 12-weeks. This time the main focus was on embracing and accepting differences, as well as developing the individuals’ confidence. A way in which this was explored was through colour theory and abstract painting and using the paintings as covers for personalised notebooks. Providing the young people with the same colours to create different and unique artworks, it was possible to showcase the beauty of variety. We may start with the same colours but by applying our own personalities the resulting outcomes will vary, thereby highlighting the joy and value within the diversity of the paintings.
By exploring their own artistic voices and unique styles, the young people grew in confidence to express themselves while embracing their inner worlds. In order to facilitate this the creative practitioners developed a variety of activities for each week, which included: paper marbling, ceramics, abstract painting, and emotion print making.
